Overview

In June 2018, the National Organized Workers’ Union filed a grievance alleging that Humber River Hospital, a major acute care hospital in Toronto, had improperly classified an employee's duties and responsibilities, assigning those of a higher classification.

The Arbitrator dismissed the grievance on the grounds that the duties being performed did not attract compensation at the wage rate of the higher classification.

Fasken represented Humber River Hospital with a team comprised of Erin Porter and Maria-Cristina Cavicchia.
