Montréal-based franchisor MTY Food Group Inc. has acquired international restaurant company BBQ Holdings. This US$257 million transaction was completed by the merger of Grill Merger Sub and BBQ Holdings. The MTY Group has been operating restaurants under more than 80 banners in Canada, the United States and internationally for 40 years. This Montréal-based franchisor purchased each common share of BBQ Holdings for US$17.25 per share. BBQ Holdings is now exclusively owned by MTY and continues to operate in Minnetonka, Minnesota. This acquisition will allow MTY to have a greater presence in the United States. This transaction is relevant to a situation involving mergers and acquisitions law.
