Overview

Fasken represents FortisBC, British Columbia’s largest gas utility, in a dispute with a municipality over the terms of relocation of gas infrastructure to accommodate a municipal project. The British Columbia Utilities Commission heard the dispute in 2021, and it was reconsidered and upheld in FortisBC’s favour in 2022. The municipality has appealed to the British Columbia Court of Appeal and Fasken continues to represent FortisBC Energy Inc.

Fasken represented FortisBC before the BCUC with a team led by Matthew Ghikas and included Tariq Ahmed and Courtney Gibbons.  In the Court of Appeal, the team is led by Geoff Cowper KC with Tariq Ahmed and Matthew Ghikas.
