Fasken is acting as the employer spokesperson in the context of the 2020-2025 collective agreement negotiations between the Government of Québec (Conseil du trésor) and LANEQ (Association d'avocats et de notaires de l'état québécois). LANEQ is a certified union that represents, with a few exceptions, the approximately 1,150 lawyers and notaries of the Government of Québec, divided into six distinct bargaining units: Public Service, Agence du revenu du Québec, Autorité des marchés financiers, Investissements Québec, Protecteur du citoyen and Régie de l'énergie.
This is a negotiation that is of a particular importance given the numerous litigations still outstanding between the parties (see Publishable Matter 8).
In addition to acting as a spokesperson, Fasken is called upon to provide numerous legal opinions on various issues related to negotiations and to provide advice on the strategy to adopt in that regard.
