Fasken has a strong presence in the card space as we provide advice to many of the largest credit card issuers in Canada which includes expertise on loyalty programs, co-brand credit and debit card programs, prepaid cards, gift cards, stored value cards, electronic wallet products and mobile payments.
We also advise extensively in payments and card networks – an area evolving significantly as the Government proposes more and more regulation and codes of conduct in this area. We interface with merchant acquirers and assist new entrants as technology breaks down the barriers to entry.
With the importance of technology in payments, we have an interdisciplinary team which draws upon technology and intellectual property expertise focused on financial services so we know and understand the business, the technology around it and the regulatory environment in which it operates.
