Tom is a bilingual advocate with experience in both entrepreneurship and law. He understands businesses and what they hope to achieve through litigation.
Before joining Fasken, he worked at a litigation boutique in Toronto and a U.S. law firm in London, England. He has appeared before the Superior Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Federal Court of Appeal. Tom has experience in commercial litigation, shareholder disputes, defamation and libel, franchise disputes, rates regulation, and injunctions. He is also interested in using technology to achieve better results for clients and improve the practice of litigation.
Tom received his LL.B. from King’s College London, where he obtained first-class honours and served as the president of the King’s College London Law Society. He also worked on multiple legal tech projects during law school, including a tool that made residential leases easier to read by converting legal jargon into plain English. Before moving to England, he co-founded a tech start-up while living in Montreal.
Tom is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, speaks conversational Swedish, and is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales.
