Eric Blondeau is a partner in the Corporate/Commercial group in our Montréal office. Eric is a seasoned lawyer with nearly 20 years of experience in asset management, investment funds, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate transactions.
His practice focuses primarily on asset management and establishing private investment funds, including private equity, infrastructure, real estate, private lending and venture capital. Eric also assists asset managers with mergers and acquisitions, investments, joint ventures and other related activities.
Having worked in the investment management industry for most of his career, Eric is particularly well known for his extensive knowledge of the industry and the various issues affecting private fund managers. Eric is also recognized for his collaborative approach and ability to carry out large, complex projects.
Eric began his legal career with a leading Canadian business law firm where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions (public and private), corporate financing, securities and corporate law. He then spent over 8 years at a leading independent investment management firm, 4 years of which as head of legal affairs for its private equity platform (infrastructure, real estate, private credit, agriculture and private equity), which had over $13 billion in assets under management at the time he left.
Since 2021 and prior to joining Fasken, Eric was Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary of a publicly traded holding company investing in public and private companies worldwide.
