The Labour, Employment and Human Rights Group invites you to a breakfast conference on the regulatory amendments regarding the safe management of asbestos.
To ensure the health and physical safety of workers, the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail has adopted new regulatory provisions respecting the safe management of asbestos. These provisions have been in force since June of 2013, and seek to reduce workers' exposure to asbestos dust. In the context of this training, we will be presenting the new safe asbestos management requirements that apply to employers and building owners, as well as employees' rights under the new regulatory provisions. We will also discuss the impact that the new regulation will have on contractual relations between building owners and their tenants that have employees working for them.
Who, in the end, will be paying for the costs generated by work or corrective measures imposed by the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail? Should clauses be added to commercial leases in order to provide that owners and tenants share liability?
Finally, the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail is responsible for implementing and ensuring compliance with the new regulation, and we will give you an overview of its various powers.
