Overview

British Columbia and Ontario are the latest jurisdictions to introduce new pay transparency laws, part of a growing international trend to legislate the sharing of pay information in order to encourage equitable pay practices. However, each jurisdiction has approached the task differently.

In this seminar, we:

  • Provide a deep dive into the new B.C. Pay Transparency Act
  • Preview the upcoming job posting requirements under Ontario’s Employment Standards Act
  • Discuss existing laws in other Canadian jurisdictions, including the obligations for the federal sector
  • Review international trends in pay transparency
  • Discuss practical considerations for employers faced with increasing pressure to publicly disclose pay information
