Irene Lai is engaged in a diverse corporate/commercial practice for both private and publicly-held companies. She has been involved in a variety of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, share purchase transactions, asset purchase transactions, and private and public financings.
Irene is a graduate of the joint JD/MBA program (Finance specialization) at Osgoode Hall Law School and Schulich School of Business, where she was on the Dean’s Honour List and served as Co-President of the JD/MBA Students’ Association. She worked as a Caseworker for the Osgoode Venture Capital Clinic, a Teaching Assistant for Schulich’s Introduction to Business course, a Grader for the Elements of Law: Part One course, and a Commercialization Associate for Innovation York.
Prior to law school, Irene earned her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication and Business (Co-op), with a Human Resources Management Minor and a Global Experience Certificate from the University of Waterloo. She was a competitive team athlete on her university’s dragon boat team. She completed an international exchange program at Warwick Business School in the UK, where she was a member of the surf club. Irene graduated as Valedictorian and achieved the highest academic standing in her class.
Irene interned, summered, and articled with the firm and was seconded to the Canadian Olympic Committee.
In her spare time, Irene enjoys travelling, fitness, and trying new activities.
