Overview

On Friday, 19 December 2014, the President of South Africa announced that the Labour Relations Amendment Act 2014 will come into effect on 1 January 2015.

The Amendment Act ushers in significant changes to the Labour Relations Act, particularly in relation to the protection of a-typical employees such as labour broker, fixed-term and part-time employees. Employers must understand and be ready to make the necessary adjustments for these amendments.
