Montréal partner Jean-Philippe Mikus comments on the measures companies must take to comply with recent changes to Québec’s Bill 96, which adds new obligations under the Charter of the French Language, in an article published in La Presse (in French only).
He comments on the obligation for companies to ensure that French is the predominant language used on their storefronts.
“The law doesn’t change the possibility of displaying a trademark in a foreign language, be it English or Italian. We simply need to add elements to ensure that French is dominant,” said partner Jean-Philippe Mikus.
