Rockstar Consortium represented in special Canada/US depositions

The Rockstar Consortium is a joint entity composed of Apple, Blackberry, Ericsson, Microsoft and Sony. It was formed to acquire patents formerly owned by Nortel. In connection to litigation in Canada and the United States among Nortel pensioners, Rockstar, its CEO and CTO were summoned to give evidence by deposition. The two officers summoned were previously in senior positions at Nortel. The depositions were conducted in Ottawa under both Canadian and US rules of witness examination. The deposition was recorded by sound and video, and was attended by dozens of Canadian and American lawyers, in person and in remote locations around the world. Peter Mantas of Fasken Martineau defended Rockstar and its two officers during their depositions.
