On August 31, 2017, Agropur Cooperative (Agropur) and Agrifoods International Cooperative Ltd. (Agrifoods), two of Canada’s largest dairy cooperatives, announced that they had reached an agreement pursuant to which Agropur will become the sole owner of Ultima Foods Inc.
Ultima Foods was a 50-50 joint venture between these two cooperatives. With more than 40 years of expertise in the yogurt business, Ultima Foods is a leading manufacturer in the yogurt market recognized for its major innovations in the yogurt category, in particular its iögo and Olympic brands.
Fasken represented Agropur in this transaction with a team led by Diane Bertrand that included Alain Ranger (Tax) and Joëlle Simard (Corporate).
