Government of Québec

The representations sought to present the Government of Quebec’s point of view on the appropriate compensation of government lawyers and notaries, represented by LANEQ (Les avocats et notaires de l’État québécois) for the relevant period, given their distinct status recognized by a working committee in the Fall of 2023.

The Government of Quebec has more than 1,100 unionized lawyers and notaries in the legal departments of its ministries and government agencies.

With its in-depth understanding of the ins and outs of public administration and subtleties of universe of negotiation in the public and parapublic sectors, Fasken’s team was able to effectively represent the Government of Quebec’s interests in this matter.

The hearings were held over 9 days. The parties called several experts and specialists in economics, actuarial science, job evaluation and pay equity.

A Fasken team composed of Sébastien Gobeil, Maxime-Arnaud Keable and Elisabeth Bouffard represented the Government of Quebec in this matter.
