Teresa Li is an associate in the Capital Markets and Mergers & Acquisitions group. Teresa is engaged in a broad corporate/commercial and securities law practice, and has been involved in a wide variety of transactions including mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and share/asset purchase transactions.
Teresa graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. Prior to law school, she received a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering with honours from the University of Toronto. She was on the Dean’s List, and completed a minor in environmental engineering. She previously worked as an Engineering Assistant at the Regional Municipality of York, where she developed extensive experience in designing and managing infrastructure projects.
During law school, Teresa was a senior editor for the Journal of Law and Equality, an executive member of the Asia Law Society, and a Research Assistant to a law professor, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) governance. Teresa also worked as a summer law student at Don Valley Community Legal Services and completed multiple internships at law firms in Markham, Ontario, and Beijing, China.
Teresa previously served on the Board of Directors of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (FACL), and has spearheaded multiple events and programs that promote diversity in the legal profession. Teresa was formerly a figure skating national medalist, and an assistant coach for junior skaters. Fluent in Mandarin, she has facilitated exchanges and coordinated collaboration between the Chinese Figure Skating National Team and the coaches and professionals in Canada. In her spare time, she enjoys playing the violin, traveling, and trying out new recipes.
Teresa summered at the firm in 2021 and was seconded to First Cobalt.
